FOCC Conversation
with Hunt Clark

Sunday, November 17, 2013 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Join the Friends of Contemporary Craft for a conversation with wood sculptor and digital artist, Hunt Clark.

Hunt Clark studied art at the University of Tennessee with a focus in painting and sculpture. In 1995 he moved to the edge of the Cumberland Plateau where he shares his home and studio with artist Deborah McClary.

His experiential approach to his concepts has allowed him to transcend traditional paths. In 1991 he developed a unique carving process and has spent the next seventeen years exploring what it offers to the wood medium. His dedication to the craft, combined with his unconventional perspective, has resulted into a compelling body of work.

Hunt has gained a reputation for his distinctive style and unparalleled refinement of free form carving. With no formal training in techniques of woodworking he approached the medium without the weight of tradition, building his own vocabulary and understanding of the material. His sculptural forms evolved from a contemporary art background.

Conversations begin promptly at 5 p.m. with a slide talk in the Lecture Hall followed by a reception in the Lower Lobby. $5 for FOCC Members, $10 for Non-Members, Students free. Tickets Required. Call 501-372-4000 or visit
