December Art Classes & workshops
Beginning December 7, 2020
Join the talented artists and instructors of the Museum School on Zoom for innovative and engaging art experiences. Class offerings for December include a holiday-themed cinema studies workshop, holiday card printmaking, and illustrative storytelling.

winter wonderland: A visual-art infused journey to the land of sweets
December 12, 1-4 p.m.
In partnership with Ballet Arkansas, the Arkansas Arts Center is closing a portion of Little Rock’s Main Street for one day in December to present a visual art-infused journey to the Land of the Sweets. While viewers drive through the larger-than-life set produced by the Arts Center’s theatre staff, Ballet Arkansas dancers will perform vignettes from The Nutcracker. Viewers will also be able to explore winter-themed works from the Arkansas Arts Center Foundation Collection online. This event is made possible by the City of Little Rock.

it's a wonderful life film workshop
December 17, 2020 | 6:00 p.m.
Gather your family, light up the fireplace, and join the Arkansas Cinema Society and Arkansas Arts Center for a discussion of It’s A Wonderful Life, directed by Frank Capra. Geared toward those new to film appreciation, seasoned film veteran Philip Martin will use the classic film to explain the fundamentals of film theory. The film is available on platforms including Amazon Prime, YouTube, and for free at NBC.com. Beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 17, Philip Martin will live tweet the film from this account, with a live video discussion beginning at 8:15 p.m.

'Twas the night before christmas

In partnership with the Arkansas Arts Center’s Children’s Theatre, Lexington Children’s Theatre in Kentucky is staging one of Arkansas Arts Center’s original Children’s Theatre scripts, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Inspired by the classic poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clark Moore, and written by longtime Children’s Theatre playwright Keith Smith, this festive treat for the whole family is streaming throughout the month of December. Tickets are available on the Lexington Children’s Theater’s website.

grinchfest at CALS

In partnership with Central Arkansas Library System, the Arkansas Arts Center presents GrinchFest – in a virtual format this year. Craig O'Neill will perform the holiday classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, for families throughout Arkansas to enjoy.
