This is a drop-in class. Registration not required. $20 per session, paid at the door. CASH ONLY. Draw or paint from a live model. No formal instruction provided; instructor is present to coordinate class and model only. Admission fee includes model fees.

PUNCH CARD:

1) You will receive a punch card the first time you attend this class.
2) Your card will be punched each time you attend a full 3-hour session.
3) After four punches your fifth class is free.
4) Punch cards do not expire.

Follow your intuition - and your ink - in this exciting one-day workshop with artist Diane Harper! Learn how to layer random applications of ink blots on paper then build a personal narrative on top using automatic drawing techniques. Find the hidden imagery and bring it to light with an assortment of techniques and pens.

Through an in-depth investigation into the various techniques and approaches to collage, students will gain a working knowledge into space, perspective, and narrative. Learn how to create, compose, and craft collages as both original artworks and preparatory designs. A short lecture on digital processes as well as art historical examples will be reviewed.

Guided exercises teach students how to see the basic shapes that are inherent in every object. Learn to use line, value, composition, and illusion of depth in an image. Explore different drawing materials.

PREREQUISITE: Beginning Drawing or equivalent (understanding drawing elements)

Learn to combine all drawing elements into more polished drawings. Continue working from still lifes as well as learning human form basics. Discuss sketchbook routines and practices, critique, and how to dissect finished work.

Learn more about the art of figure drawing through this one hour complement class to the Drop-In Figure Drawing on Tuesday nights! Robert will demonstrate and lecture on technical and creative aspects of figure drawing. Students can stay and work from the model during the Drop-in Session from 6 - 9 p.m. This class can be taken apart from the Drop-in Figure Drawing & Painting, but it is recommended to work them together.

The emphasis of this class will be developing effective compositional design and facilitating a dynamic and sensitive approach to color. Explore the pastel medium, drawing techniques, under-painting techniques, value and color studies, surface applications, and effective and creative ways of using photo references.

Learn the art of sketching in an urban environment! Express the energy and movement inherent to an urban space. Learn how to speed up your drawing and capture information quickly. Class occurs off-site in downtown Little Rock and also includes two critique sessions at the Arkansas Arts Center.
